Practice:
The monochrome, loose-page printing scheme is designed to complement the book's image of pure love and bold trapezoidal form. The trapezoidal shape also accommodates the reading habits of two different languages (English, horizontal left-hand pages, and traditional Chinese, vertical right-hand pages). Simply flip the book 180 degrees to switch languages, as instructed in the book itself.
The traditional Japanese four-hole binding method, when used with the loose-page format, accommodates the varying margin sizes required for the specific design and creates a simple, romantic impression unique to thread-bound books.
